Pilates for Parkinson's
We are learning every day that there are ways in which people with Parkinson's disease can enhance their quality of life and build power by moving their bodies. Pilates can help people with Parkinson's by increasing strength, coordination and confidence in their ability to move and perform daily tasks.
While moving your body and using mild resistance, Pilates will increase stability in your core and increase range of motion while reducing muscle rigidity,this allows freedom of movement in your arms and legs. There is focus on improving the function of the weaker side; all of this improves posture, balance, and alignment and will aid in a more proper walking gait. Particular attention is paid to breath awareness and dexterity of the hands and feet. Multiple tasks are performed simultaneously in order to stimulate the brain more effectively.

Rock Steady Boxing is a non-contact form of exercise that helps to increase the neuroplasticity of the brain; this helps the brain to use its dopamine more efficiently.
